Events announced as part of an international celebration of the Care Experienced Community

The event changed its name from ‘Care Leavers Week’ to ‘Care Experienced Week’ in 2018 to reflect that people don’t leave their care experience behind them just because they leave formal care.

Who Cares? Scotland members say that care experience is a fundamental part of who they are – and this is something to celebrate.

The celebrations will be kicked off with a digital rally on Twitter, with marchers connecting using the #CEW2020 and #LoveRally hashtags and following the live stream from the @whocaresscot Twitter account.

There are also workshops planned for those with experience of care to share their experiences of their care in the Covid-19 pandemic, and an hour-long focus group session aimed at tapping into the experiences and barriers to recruitment faced by care-experienced young people (aged 16-27) to help develop employability skills sessions for the future.

The week is closed with its annual festival to celebrate Care Experienced Week, with Who Cares? Scotland members coming together as a digital community to celebrate ‘through music, art and connection’.
