Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Mental Health Advisor to join our small team of practitioners based in Manchester, providing a range of mental health programme to the most vulnerable young people that Centrepoint support.
We will need you to have:
- A relevant core professional qualification in mental health or social care plus evidence of continued professional development in mental health related work.
- You will have substantial experience of risk assessment and risk management.
- Have experience of assessment, formulation and managing complex cases and risk within a mental health service.
Centrepoint’s Health & Wellbeing Team:
In the role of a Mental Health Advisor in the Health and Wellbeing Team, you will be providing one-to-one interventions for young people, who are supported by Centrepoint, with serious mental health problems, suicidal ideation, self-harm. Moreover, in this role you will be providing guidance and consultation to staff in respect of young people with mental health difficulties.
You will have substantial experience of working with homeless or vulnerable young adults aged 16-25 in a crisis mental health setting. You will also have a relevant Professional qualification at a minimum of degree level in the field of mental health (Dip SW) essential relevant professional registration (i.e. HCPC).
As part of a multidisciplinary team, alongside other health practitioners, you will undertake comprehensive assessments of young people’s health needs, risks and vulnerabilities. Your experience of managing a caseload of young people will mean you excel at working in partnership with Centrepoint colleagues, partner organisations, and local services to ensure that young people receive the right level of support to meet their mental, emotional and physical health needs. As a result, you will need a good working knowledge of primary healthcare and public mental health initiatives, and be keen to learn new skills.
