The College is committed to the safe, meaningful, and ethical participation of children, young people, parents, carers, and all child health stakeholders in informing the child health agenda and in every aspect of College activity, as stated in the RCPCH Strategy 2021-2024.

This activity aims to ensure children and young people from diverse backgrounds inform, challenge and influence standards of health services delivered to them and to work collaboratively to improve outcomes for children and young people.

Your role will work with children and young people aged 5-25 to support them to take part in child and youth participation social action to amplify children and young people’s voices on topics that matter to them and the priorities of the College / RCPCH &Us, using youth participation/youth work methodology and principles.

This will include supporting children and young people through consultation-based activities in community and child health settings, working online and in person with children and young people in one off group work sessions and developing longer term projects on child health topics.

The role will follow a rights-based approach, seeking to develop the skills, development and agency of children and young people. You will also actively support wider children and young people’s engagement team projects, events, and activities such as the RCPCH Annual Conference, national audit programmes, supporting as a second worker for peer led sessions and other engagement or participation activity that the team is undertaking.
