This is a great opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated Social Worker to join our team and contribute to the further development of the service. This role is located at RAF Coningsby, part of the friendly and supportive East Region. We are a hard-working team, dispersed across the East of England. Although we all have our own area of responsibility, we support each other in delivering the best possible service to the RAF community. The Advanced Practitioner will be expected to carry a caseload and support the wider Regional team, leading in an area of expert practice, developing the knowledge and skills base.

You will have the opportunity to build on and develop your existing skills. You will work closely with RAF Coningsby’s Welfare and Community Support teams, as well as the Local Authority, Health, and other civilian agencies in relation to providing direct welfare support to the service community. This role may include, but is not limited to, one to one support, advocacy, initial assessments, support plans, signposting, and referrals to outside agencies.

This is an exciting and sometimes unpredictable role where no two days are the same!

About the team

Our Personal Support & Social Work Service provides a professional, confidential and comprehensive range of social work and welfare support services to the RAF Community within the UK. The service consists of approximately 60 staff members across the North, South and East Regions.

The East Region is made up of 20 staff within two sub-teams, located on various RAF stations within a large geographical location.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a relevant Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You will also have demonstrable post-qualification experience of working within a statutory Adult and/or Children and Families setting and be skilled in completing thorough assessments to achieve successful outcomes. Evidence of post qualification training / development is also essential, as well as good communication, organisational and IT skills. You must be prepared to travel regularly within the East region in the course of your work, so access to a vehicle and a full driving licence is essential.
