Barnardo's purpose is changing childhoods and changing lives. Are you ready for a new challenge? Are you passionate about providing high quality services to children, young people and their families?

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated leader to become an Assistant Director Children's Services and lead our work across Devon, Cornwall and the Channel Islands.

- You will manage 5 Children's Services Managers who oversee the day-to-day operational running of our services.
- A key part of this role is to foster excellent relationships with commissioners in order to maintain our current work and grow it where we see that there are unmet needs for children and families.
- You will represent Barnardo's in newly emerging strategic environments, such as the Integrated Care System, and to ensure that the children and families we work with have a voice.
- You will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary strategic team with partners in social care, health, education, housing, police and other organisations
- You will need to demonstrate expertise in leading services for children across a range of disciplines, with a strong focus on early years, domestic abuse and sexual violence response service, and wider family support.
- Knowledge and understanding of the landscape around Child Sexual Exploitation and Child Sexual Abuse is also important.
- The post holder will need to have demonstrable leadership and prior knowledge and experience of tendering and running large scale contracts. You will oversee budgets over 4 million pound.

The central base for this post will be Plymouth, with the ability to travel to Devon, Cornwall and occasionally Jersey, therefore a car user is essential for this post.

When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document (if applicable). This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.

Please note due to the high volume of applications for some posts, this advert might close before the displayed closing date. We recommend that you apply for this role as soon as possible.
Pay & Reward Framework

We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's values. We also know that we can only realise our ambitions and achieve better outcomes for more children, thanks to the talent, hard work and creativity of our people.

For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which was rolled out 1st April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a key pillar of our People & Culture Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to grow and develop in their career at Barnardo's as it will offer clear routes of progression for colleagues to progress through the pay band of their role.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay progression steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours. More details on Barnardo's pay framework can be found upon application.
