Why Action for Children?

We believe that every child should have a safe and happy childhood. Last year, we helped more than 670,000 children and families across the UK. We work to ensure their voices are heard, and campaign to bring lasting change to their lives.

At Action for Children, we pride ourselves in being collaborative and inclusive. Are you passionate about changing the lives of children and young people to give them the best possible future?

A bit about the role:

Action for Children Bath West Children's Centre Services provides group and individual support for children under 5 and their families in the Twerton and Moorlands areas of Bath. As a Family Support Practitioner, you will be providing sessions to support and build family resilience, promote play and learning as well as support emotional development and wellbeing. The role includes the exciting opportunity to deliver a range of parenting programmes. Previous experience of delivering similar programmes would be an advantage.

How you'll help to create brighter futures.

Delivering targeted evidence-based services to children under 5 and their families on a 1:1 and group basis, in the family home or community setting
Planning and delivering play groups in the community based on the EYFS.
Assessing the needs of children and families and planning support interventions with the family.
Attending and participating at relevant multi agency meetings.
Establishing excellent rapports with other professionals and partner agencies to promote a strength – based model.
Let's talk about you.

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do' attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:

NVQ Level 3 in Early Years or equivalent with at least two years post qualifying experience.
Previous experience working closely with local communities, children, and their families.
Experience of delivering parenting programmes is desirable.
A Positive and Caring attitude with excellent interpersonal skills.
The ability to prioritise and manage workloads.
Ability to work alone as well as within a team.
A strong work ethic in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
You will be expected to travel to Twerton and Moorlands areas so access to a vehicle is essential for this role.
Good to know.

If you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't align perfectly with the job description, we'd love you to apply anyway. You might just be the perfect person for this role, or another role within the Action for Children family.
