We are delighted to announce that a part-time Social Worker opportunity has become available within the KMPT Rosewood Mother and Baby Unit (MBU). The MBU which is based in Dartford is an 8 bedded inpatient unit for women experiencing acute perinatal mental health issues.

We are therefore looking for an experienced Social Worker to join another part-time Social Worker colleague as a job share. The post holder will have either experience working within perinatal mental health and/or experience working within children and family social services.

We are looking for a Social Worker who is committed to the development and clinical leadership of the MBU.

- The post holder will be registered with Social Work England
- The post holder will have completed their ASYE

Main duties of the job

To work with the Mother & Baby Unit (MBU) multi-disciplinary team providing social worker practice and support across the Unit. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of social work services ensuring the needs of individual mothers and their babies are met. They will provide social care advice to staff and take a lead role in safeguarding for the MBU.

You will work closely with other agencies and individuals to support mothers with a clear focus on recovery, social inclusion and social justice. The role will entail assessment, support planning and the opportunity to provide 1-1 strength-based therapeutic interventions. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide social work input to the assessment, planning and treatment of mothers admitted to the service and their families.

To complete a comprehensive social history report on all mothers admitted to the MBU and contribute to their care planning addressing their social care needs as part of the CPA process.

To contribute to the ongoing risk assessment and risk management in relation to mothers admitted, their babies and their families.

To liaise with relevant social services across Kent, Surrey and Sussex as required ensuring that robust discharge planning is in place.

To provide mothers and their families with information regarding entitlements to statutory benefits and ensure that all necessary benefit claims are completed as required.

To engage and empower mothers and their families and actively to elicit service user and carer feedback in order to ensure person-centered interventions.

To promote the involvement of mothers and carers in both care planning and service development.

To support the ward manager in the development of best practice and ensure a shared understanding of child protection within the team.
