You will join our efficient and effective Personal Support & Social Work Service at Brize Norton. You will be working with a diverse, agile, and creative workforce with a passion for supporting others.


Please note that internally this position is known as Personal and Family Support Worker (PFSW)
SSAFA is a voluntary organisation and the intervention and support we deliver is provided with consent on a non-statuary basis.
The PFSW will provide direct and impactful welfare support to our service users including RAF personnel and their immediate families
You will have opportunities to develop and add to existing skills and knowledge base in the Social Care field.
You will be involved in conducting need assessments for our service users to plan and create the appropriate intervention.
You will work closely with uniformed Station Welfare staff as well as with relevant Local Authorities, Health, and other civilian agencies as well as other military organisations and charities.

About the Team

The Personal Support & Social Work Service is a non-statutory, confidential service, for the Royal Air Force community, with a presence at RAF stations and MOD locations across the UK.
This role is located at RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, part of the friendly and supportive South Region. We are a hard-working team, from diverse professional backgrounds, dispersed across the South of England.  Although we all have our own area of responsibility, we support each other in delivering the best possible service to the military community.
The role at RAF Brize Norton is co-located with 3 other workers, who collectively support military personnel and their families at what is the largest RAF station in the UK.
About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have:
Demonstrable experience of working in the field of social care, or in a related field.
Experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans and monitoring and reviewing outcomes.
Excellent prioritisation and organisation of caseload.
Comprehensive IT skills including MS Office and case management systems.
The willingness and ability to travel for work including a car and full driving licence.
