We are looking for a self motivated and experienced, registered Mental Health Nurse. You will have specialist knowledge of the care of Older people with mental health conditions and co existing physical health concerns.

You will work in our Community Mental Health team providing mental health care and treatment using appropriate pathways including the Dementia Pathway in line with NICE guidelines.

A good understanding of Mental Health Framework and legislation; the Mental Health Act & the Mental Capacity Act as well as Clinical Risk policies and procedures is desirable.

You will have excellent communication and people skills, a warm personality and the resilience to help us transform and make a positive difference to our patients' lives. Your energy and drive will be rewarded with the support of a dedicated team that strives to create a progressive, friendly and compassionate environment.

As this is a Community role, you will need to visit Older Adults in their own homes and therefore must have access to your own car.

Person Specification

- Registered Mental Health nurse or equivalent


- ENB 998 or SLICE training

Previous Experience

- Two years post qualification experience
- Experience in dealing with challenging behaviour


- Experience of working with older people with mental health problems
- Experience of working in the community
- Supporting and empowering carer
- Multi-agency working
- Community working experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Knowledge of mental health legislation
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues and manage conflict situations
- Intervention and outcome monitoring skills
- Able to work unsocial hours
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload
- Ability to manage stress
- Ability to work on own initiative and/ or with a team


- Good IT skills
