A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the CMHT Mersey North join the service as a Senior Practitioner for Social Work.

The North Mersey Community Mental Health Team provides care and treatment to working age adults with severe mental health problems in south Manchester. You will be working in a leadership team consisting of senior and advanced practitioners, a team psychologist, consultant psychiatrists and a team manager, supporting a wider multidisciplinary team consisting of nursing and social work care coordinators, occupational therapy, support workers, wellbeing practitioners and carers workers.

The post holder will be required to work 37.5 hours a week, 9-5 Monday - Friday. There is an expectation that the post holder will participate in out-of-hours bronze on call.

You will be a senior team member providing clinical leadership, leading within our MDT meetings, and on clinical decision making within the service. You will support junior staff through supervision and service development. We are a committed integrated service that strives to provide quality recovery-based support to people with severe and enduring mental health related difficulties within the Manchester area.

Main duties of the job

- To maintain own clinical and professional competence.
- Deputise for the Team Manager in his/her absence and take on any delegated duties as required.
- Be a lead social worker for the team, for junior staff to approach for advice and support with social work specific tasks.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with other services in Trust and with local partnership organisations.
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision, support, and consultation to MDT staff.
- Manage and evaluate a caseload in line with the social work pathway
- Take responsibility for resource allocation and lead the development of the pathway with other community services.
- Line management and clinical supervision of staff members.
- To participate in the local on call manager rota for GMMH
