The Role:
As a Senior Social Worker with our Mental Health team, you’ll provide professional and managerial expertise and supervision to team members, and promote good practice that complies with relevant legislation. Playing a key role in multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure core statutory duties are delivered, you’ll also work alongside other professionals to oversee the screening, triage and duty service, and carry your own small long-term caseload.

Undertaking standard audits of the team’s social work practice, and helping to embed the highest professional standards and quality assurance, you’ll manage adult safeguarding enquiries, assess relevant training, and identify any child protection issues that arise. We’ll also expect you to undertake risk assessment and risk management for users working with the team, and participate as an AMHP on the central service rota.

But your work won’t stop here – you’ll attend professional forums, take part in reflective practice sessions and promote the work of the RBKC’s Mental Health Service with external groups. We’ll also expect you to take responsibility for work undertaken by supervisees, keep up to date with research in relation to mental health and social care legislation, and take accountability for reviewing our monthly KPIs. Providing relevant learning and development interventions to meet individual, team and service needs will be another key task, as will ensuring staff receive regular supervision of their practice.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:
With a Dip SW/CQSW or its equivalent, you’ll be a registered social worker, be a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional and possess professional leadership and management experience. Additionally, with post-qualification experience which includes working in the community with older people who have enduring mental health problems, you’ll also have well developed practical knowledge of the legislation, statutory guidance and best practice that underpins social work and care for adults.

We’ll expect you to have experience of translating statutes into policy and practice, of performance/audit tasks and quality assurance, and of complex multi-disciplinary work. Ready to supervise both staff and students, and with well developed practice skills, you’ll be a skilled chair and constructive participant in a variety of meeting environments. An inspirational leader and delegator, and capable of making effective decisions under pressure, you should also possess the ability to provide professional guidance to your colleagues involved in our duty and out-of-hours services.

Join us, and you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays. And as a key member of our team, you’ll also have plenty of opportunities for development and progression within our organisation
