We are currently recruiting for a Service Manager to manage and support our team of Independent Reviewing Officers in the Independent Reviewing team.
About the role
This is an essential role to secure good outcomes for some of the most vulnerable children and young people of Gloucestershire. In accordance with The Children Act (1989), Working Together (2018), and the Statutory guidance for Independent Reviewing Officers and Local Authorities (2010), the Multi-Agency Reviewing Service (‘the Service’) will provide a specialist independent service to every child subject to a child protection plan, and those within the care of the Local Authority. This post will have responsibility for management of our team of Independent Reviewing Officers and will manage a number of IRO as be supported by a Senior Independent Reviewing Officer. You will be responsible for ensuring that the service being provided to children is effective, high performing and of a high quality; overseeing practice that has strategic impact on the system as a whole. You will ensure the views of children are central to practice and service developments, integrating this with your professional and research/evaluative knowledge to drive service improvement. You will use quality assurance, resources and budgets appropriately and are responsible for the effective day-to-day running of your service areas. As part of our commitment to best practice you will be responsible for proactively identify strengths and challenging weak and inadequate practice, thereby playing a pivotal role in the local authority’s continuous improvement.
As well as your experience as a frontline social worker, there are some things we require of you to be successfully appointed to this post:
- Social Work England registration
- a recognised qualification in Social Work
- to have passed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
- a full driving licence and willingness to drive
- DBS clearance
