About Coram Ambitious For Adoption:

Coram, which is the oldest children’s charity, is a group of specialist organisations addressing the care, welfare, education and rights of children and operates from its distinctive 3.5 acre headquarters in the heart of London which provides the hub for clinical as well as professional and distributed services for adoption. Coram strives to be a credible, respectful, professional, dynamic and committed organisation where these values infuse all that we do to promote resilience for children.

Coram Ambitious for Adoption is a Commissioned Voluntary Adoption Agency, providing a Regional Adoption Agency for a number of Local Authorities. Statutory adoption support services and family finding are located in each participant Local Authority, while the Recruitment and Assessment Team and Adoption Support Team for all Coram families are delivered from the Coram Campus in London.

About the Role:

This is an exciting role for a Social Work Assistant to join our busy Adoption Team and work alongside the social workers in the Recruitment and Assessment Team, placing children with new families. The successful candidate will manage approved prospective adopters and children’s electronic profiles, and offer a liaison support service to the Family Finding social workers based in Coram’s Regional Adoption Agency Local Authorities.

This will also involve co-ordinating the monthly preparation and training events, profile exchange days held in the Coram Campus, plus supporting the manager in the Recruitment and Assessment Team with the enquiry line and stage one assessments.

You should have a proven ability to manage a range of complex tasks simultaneously, with an excellent eye for detail and an ability to work on your own initiative. Experience of working with databases is essential as well as working flexibly in a social work or care setting and as part of professional team.

Additional skills could include knowledge of vulnerable children in care and/or adoption or an interest in developing this.
