This unique role within the AFRUCA Social Work team could be an exciting opportunity for you.
AFRUCA - Safeguarding Children is an award winning national charity promoting the safeguarding and well-being of children in Black and Minority Ethnic communities. This position will suit a social worker with strong interest in the cultural aspects of social work practice. A core part of the role includes conducting cultural assessments and providing intensive one to one support for families in crisis to enable them strengthen their parenting capacities and improve protection and safety for children in the family setting.
The post holder will work with families to build trusting relationships and support change where necessary. They will work with others to implement continuous improvements to strengthen our service.
Ongoing training and support will be provided to enable the post holder build expertise working with Black and Minority Ethnic families in the UK Child Protection system. There will be opportunities to develop specialist skills on subjects like FGM and Witchcraft Abuse, influence policy and advocate for families.
We want to recruit a strong candidate with excellent report writing skills, able to cope with medium work-flow and work on their own initiative. You must be a team-player, adaptable to working in a small, non-statutory setting. You must be able to work in a non-oppressive, non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner with our service users.

The post holder must undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check to confirm suitability working in a regulated activity with children and families. Registration with Social Work England is compulsory.
