We are excited to offer a Social Work post within the Gloucester Recovery Team. The post is based at Pullman Place, a community base for Recovery and other community teams, enabling information/skills/knowledge sharing and positive interface working. The post would mainly involve working in and around Gloucester with an expectation of some out of county visits. This is an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker who has some experience of working with adults of Working Age and caring for individuals with Enduring Mental Health problems.

The post will include care coordinating a designated caseload, working within CPA Policy and associated countywide risk procedures, travelling independently, use of IT skills and a working knowledge of legislation regarding safeguarding vulnerable adults, the MHA and MCA. The successful candidate will be competent in understanding social care processes and be driven by working with personalisation at the core of everything they do. They will develop integrated narrative assessments and support plans in collaboration with individuals who use the service, and will also have the opportunity to develop Personal Health Budgets.

Main duties of the job

Working in accordance with statutory and legal requirements offering knowledge and consultation to the team on the Care Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Human Rights Act, Housing Act and a range of social care policy issues including appropriate adult and property protection, maintaining knowledge of and providing a bridge of local social care and County Council services and resources.

Arranging the provision or purchase of services to meet the assessed needs of individuals and their carers in more complex cases, whether within Gloucestershire or at a distance and to review such placements.

Undertake the statutory assessments required to initiate or review all patients’ individualised packages of care

This post will be based with the Gloucester Recovery Team, however the post holder may be required to work with some out of county clients. The Recovery Team works 9am-5pm Monday to Friday; however the trust has a flexible working policy and variations of working patterns that suit the employee whilst supporting service provision is encouraged.

Person specification
Essential criteria

- Ability to undertake assessment of needs, make informed and evidence based eligibility decisions, risk assess and undertake support planning.
- A sound knowledge of current legislation framework in reference to The Care Act 2014 e.g. eligibility/MCA/Safeguarding
- Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act & legal aspects of Mental Health care
- Experience of working with Adults with enduring mental health problems
- Evidence of Assessed and Supported Year in Employment
- Social Work qualification registered with the appropriate professional body.

Desirable criteria

- Approved Mental Health Professional
- Up to date clinical knowledge including risk assessment, dual diagnosis and health and social care needs
- Ability to work on social factors affecting mental distress e.g. accommodation, substance misuse, domestic violence, welfare rights
- Ability to travel around the locality as requested, independently and efficiently. (If you have a full driving licence there will be an expectation to drive trust vehicles where required)
- Support and supervise other staff.

- Registered as a Social Worker with Social Work England
