We are looking for a Wellbeing Practitioner to join our team.

About Us :

At Action for Children, we believe that every child should have a safe and happy childhood. Last year, we helped more than 600,000 children and families across the UK. We work to ensure their voices are heard and we campaign to bring lasting change to their lives. 

About the Service:

This is an exciting new service covering Greater Manchester and Lancashire. We will deliver a range of programmes in a variety of locations across the cluster which are designed to improve the mental health and well-being of children and young people aged between 5 and 18.

Interventions will include group work and one to one work- which we will train you in and offer ongoing development opportunities. A team leader will support your practice as will team colleagues.

What you will bring:

-Supporting and empowering children, young people and families to make informed choices through a variety of interventions.

-Applying close case management and supervision, escalating cases where the level of need becomes beyond scope, or more severe ensuring adherence to other relevant elements of service delivery.

-Providing a range of information and support for evidence based psychological treatments.

We are ideally looking for someone who has:

-Psychology or Health/Social Care/Youth related undergraduate degree is desirable but not essential.

-Experience of working with children and/or young people.

-Knowledge of safeguarding.

-Knowledge and understand of the issues faced by young people with mild to moderate mental health problems.

-experience of delivering groupwork programmes and one to one support

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

-Excellent organisational and self-management skills.

-Regard for others and respect for individual rights of autonomy and confidentiality.

-Ability to be self-reflective in own personal and professional.

-Ability to be flexible to the needs of the service, including regular evening work

-Ability to travel to and around Trafford in Manchester, although the work is homebased
