We are looking for a Young Persons Practitioner who will take initiative to come up with creative approaches and methods to engage with hard to reach, vulnerable young people and families.

You would ideally have the below in order to help succeed in this role;

- An SVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable, however we are very open to relevant experience, rather than a qualification.
- Proven assessment skills and experience of working towards outcome focused care / service plans.
- Have the ability to communicate effectively and engagingly in order to maintain independent, professional relationships.
- Utilise management systems and databases.
- Logistically, it is essential you hold a driving licence with access to a vehicle as the role involves travel across the city.

A bit about the role

EH1 Edinburgh Service- commissioned by City of Edinburgh Council youth justice social work team, seek to support young people aged 12-17 years old who are at risk of being accommodated by the local authority or at risk of further escalation into the care system due to the level of risk posed to them through offending, absconding, anti-social behaviour, substance use or other significant risk taking behaviours.

You will deliver tailored support through varied interventions consisting of weekly 1-1 sessions and pro-social activities in various community settings to young people who have been referred to EH1 Edinburgh Service by their lead professional social worker.

You will act as a role model, be a consistent positive adult and focus on building relationships with young people and their families that will ultimately help divert behaviours, build structure and confidence to achieve positive outcomes based on an assessment of their needs.

You will play a key role as part of a wider team of professionals across multi-agencies and it will enable you to grow your experience and build your network with a wide range of organisations across the region and gain invaluable experience within a great charity.

Key responsibilities will be;

- To establish and develop effective relationships and channels of communication with children, young people, families, colleagues, community organisations, partner agencies and other external agencies- both face to face and virtually.
- Taking responsibility for day to day resource planning to ensure high quality services are delivered in supporting young people to attend 1-1 sessions, activities, appointments, education, employability services and other identified supports/services suited to meeting their needs.
- Review and evaluate service provision the child, young person and family is receiving with Service Co-ordinator ensuring continued improvements are made and is needs led and outcome driven.
