Global Public Health Week: Health and Social Wellbeing in a Conflict Environment
About this event
This event has now expired
During this event, key opinion leaders from the field of public health and social work will discuss their vision of how public health and social services policies have to be positioned and how practices should be reshaped to support societies to thrive.
People in all countries need well interacting health and social care systems. The conditions for such systems to be in place depend largely on political decisions. Systems taken for granted may come under threat once there is pressure coming from any kind of crisis. Then the political choice for health and wellbeing has to be negotiated in the face of other interests, such as economy, defense.
The recent pandemic is forcing us to change direction, to position ourselves and our values in a way that future shocks on societies will not challenge the fundaments of health and social care systems.

- Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO
- Rt. Hon. Helen Clark, Former Primer Minister of New Zealand and Former Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
Chair: Prof. Walter Ricciardi, President, WFPHA
