How to… talk about suicide in the workplace

Aimed at employers, workplace mental health champions and any colleague who wants to be supportive to their peers, the discussion will look at the prevalence of suicide, why people may find it difficult to talk about suicide and what we can all do to better raise awareness and have more supportive conversations.

Suicide is the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the country, but suicides among teenage girls and young women have almost doubled in recent years.

We know that the suicide rate for construction workers in the UK is over three times the national average. That’s why we’re teaming up with our partners at the Builders Merchants Federation for this discussion on ‘How to talk about suicide in the workplace’, to promote the importance of suicide prevention and to give greater confidence to people on how to talk about the issue.

The webinar will also look at the higher prevalence in men and the construction sector.
