We are looking for a Child Sexual Exploitation Project Worker to join our team.
Project Worker 2 is a generic role in use throughout the Cymru and South-West region. However, this particular role will involve the worker providing one-to-one casework to young people who are being sexually exploited or are at high risk of sexual exploitation. Due to the specialist nature of this particular the appointed worker will be expected to and supported to:
- Use the 4 A's model of Barnardo's CSE intervention to provide a therapeutic approach to supporting young people being exploited.
- Identify and assess young people who are at immediate risk of sexual exploitation or are currently experiencing sexual exploitation and tailor individual packages of care that best support the young person.
- Provide an energetic and creative approach to establishing and maintaining contact with young people who live chaotic lifestyles.
- Build trusting and therapeutic relationships with marginalised young people.
- Conduct one to one sessions with young people around the issue of sexual exploitation and facilitate harm minimisation interventions to young people at significant risk of harm.
- Provide crisis intervention to young people and be able to prioritise young people who are in crisis.
- Balance the rights that young people have to make their own decisions/choices, with the risks and the need to protect them.
- Work in partnership with key partner agencies including Avon and Somerset Police and Children's Social Care in order to safeguard children and young people from further harm.
- Liaise closely with other key partner agencies such as education, health, criminal justice system etc.
- Understand safeguarding issues in relation to working with vulnerable children and young people and experience of working within child protection frameworks.
- Provide written and verbal evidence within court proceedings.
The post holder will be based in Taunton with some home working, but will provide a service that predominately focuses on community work in Somerset and North Somerset. Workers will need to be able to meet young people in a range of settings in their local community.
The post holder will deliver outreach-based support which will work flexibly to meet young people in settings that they feel comfortable. The aim of the service is to empower young people and provide them with an alternative pathway away from exploitation.
Due to the nature of working with young people some flexibility in working hours will be required and access to personal transport is desirable.
