We are looking to appoint an experienced and skilled SEND Children's Services Manager for 29.6 hours a week.
The Children's Service Manager will oversee a small, dedicated team of Project Workers and Administrators and will also be responsible for a bank of As and When Support Staff. The CSM will be the registered CQC manager of the service, it will be your responsibility to ensure the service is fully compliant with all CQC requirements. The CSM will be highly motivated and have a passion for engaging, supporting and empowering young people and their families and managing a committed staff team.

History of Service
Barnardo's DSI service has been providing support to children & young people with a disability & their families across the region for several years. The service is registered with the Care Quality Commission.
Service's that the Children's Service Manager will lead include:
Short Break Service: This is a specialist short breaks service for families with a disabled young person between the ages of 0–25 years across the East Riding of Yorkshire. The allocation of hours is on an assessed need from the local authority. The service is domiciliary registered with CQC. Sessions can take place in the young person's home or out in the local community. The service is delivered 52 weeks of the year including weekends, evenings, school holidays and overnights (excluding bank holidays).
Group Work: The service has recently been awarded several contracts to run youth groups throughout the East Riding, for young people aged 11-18. These include evening sessions which the young people will be referred to via the local authority. In addition to this, we are commissioned to run monthly family sessions, families must have a child aged between 3-12 with SEND, families are able to self-refer into this service.
Upskilling Training: The service has been awarded a 2 year contract to upskill mainstream activity groups in the East Riding enabling them to become more inclusive for children with SEND. Training will be delivered by a bank of accredited trainers.
New opportunities: The DSI Service has a wealth of experience and talent which could be utilised and developed into further work. You should have a passion for developing and shaping services and for proactively seeking new opportunities.
Specific Responsibilities
- The CSM will be the registered CQC manager of the service. It will be your responsibility to ensure the service is fully compliant with all CQC requirements. You will be required to prepare for and lead on any CQC inspections.
- You will be required to keep up to date with developments in social care, education, health and other relevant legislation to ensure the service remains fully compliant.
- You should have demonstrable experience of managing and supervising a team. You will be required to act as a role model to staff, setting a clear agenda for the service. You will lead, support & engage service staff regarding service delivery for children and young people to achieve positive outcomes.
- You will be driven and highly motivated to deliver the current contracts and associated delivery and practice standards. This includes attending and preparing for contract monitoring meetings.
- The CSM role is a key stakeholder and needs to be able to think strategically as an active member on a wide range of SEND steering groups. You should have a desire to ensure the voice of the SEND community is heard and acted upon and a passion for engaging, supporting, and empowering young people and their families.
- You will promote good practice in equality and diversity and provide advice and guidance that champions inclusive approaches and practices.
- It is essential criteria that you have a passion for and experience of working with children, young people and their families with SEND
