This is an exciting opportunity to lead the PosAbility Service ( previously known as Disabled Children & Young People's Participation Project). This service provides individual and groupwork to children and young people who have a range of disabilities.

Central to the work is leaning from our young people on how we can support them to challenge systems and practices to ensure that there is equality of opprtunity and they can have choice in relation to daily life and future opportunities. The service is also about reducing social isolation, and creating opportunities for peer support and importantly fun. The service delivers on behalf of a number of commissioners including Southern Trust, National Lottery , Children in Need and Strategic Planning and Performance Group.

Barnardo's Children's Services Managers are critical to the delivery of our services. They are warm, outgoing, authentic, inspiring and passionate about the work they and their services do to support and amplify the voices of the most vulnerable children, young people and families in our society. This role is critical in shaping services for children and young people so they can follow their dreams and access opportunities similar to their peers.

Our Children's Services Managers hold a pivotal and multi-faceted role in Barnardo's. Not only are they innovators and talent spotters who listen to service users and staff, using their feedback to continually refine and develop the support children and young people receive; they also influence and are critical friends to other agencies, in order to maintain and develop Barnardo's reputation as an advocate for Children, Young People and Families.

We are committed to welcoming people from a diverse background, culture and experience.

When completing your application please refer to your skills, knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document for each Service. This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.

In return Barnardo's offers a reward package that includes a competitive salary, 26 days annual leave and 10 statutory/public holidays (pro-rata) per annum, a contributory pension scheme, an additional holiday purchase scheme and staff discounts.

About Barnardo's

At Barnardo's we believe in children – no matter who they are, what they have done or what they have been through. Please read about our basis and values following the link below. You will be asked questions relating to them as part of the recruitment process for this role.
