We are keen to recruit a Children's Services Worker with the right values and behaviours who can help us ensure our workplace values are at the heart of everything we do.

Why Action for Children?

Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.

About the role:

We are Bucks Activity Project, one of over 400 services in the Action for Children family. We are passionate about providing community short breaks to children with disabilities and additional needs for children aged 0-19. We provide activities and sessions on Saturdays, school holidays and in our evening youth clubs. Our aim is to give every child customised opportunity to have fun, build skills and promote independence at their pace, underpinned by a welcoming, responsive, and skilled administrative team that supports our staff, families, and partners.

Our values are:

Passionate, Collaborative, Ambitious and Inclusive

As a Children's Services Worker, you will be working inside a team delivering interventions to children and young people in a group setting, with appropriate direction. You will be supported to make a difference by not only providing personal care but encouraging the children and young people to access a wide range of activities to meet their individual needs and interests including arts and crafts, sensory play, cooking, team games, outdoor play, enhancing life skills. You will also be engaging, having fun, and interacting with children and young people that take part in activities in the local community such as climbing, water sports, go karting and visits to local farms and parks.

You will also be recording outcomes for children and supporting the team leaders and colleagues. We are looking for people who will take responsibility for the safety, care, and engagement of children, instilling a culture of continuous improvement through dialogue with the young people, parents, and professional colleagues to ensure each child is supported to achieve the best outcomes.

You will be able to demonstrate experience in working with children and have knowledge of disabilities, alongside excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.

As we provide a range of activities and sessions in different locations across Buckinghamshire, access to your own transport is a must. Mileage is paid.

Please note that all our positions require an Enhanced DBS check in relation to children and adults. We are unable to support applicants requiring sponsorship.

Part of our service provides for the Early Years age group, if you have a relevant qualification recognised by Ofsted that covers the EYFS, we would be keen to hear from you! If you don't, do not worry we are eager to grow our team and experience and there will be plenty of opportunities for you to widen your knowledge across all the age groups we provide services for.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

Although experience of working with children and part of a team to support children and young people is desirable, you don't need to have previous qualifications. All we ask is that you have a positive attitude and desire to give the best care to children and young people with an understanding of safeguarding and how to communicate effectively with others.

If you have experience in childcare, baby-sitting, volunteering in a Nursery or Early Years environment, or a Room Leader looking for a new challenge, or you have been looking after a sibling or a child with a learning disability we want to talk to you!
