We are looking to recruit social workers with different levels of experience who are committed to working restoratively with children and families in Leeds.
We provide comprehensive support and training packages at all levels with clear career progression opportunities and were awarded best Social Work Employer in 2019. We have a stable management team with no agency team managers and therefore can offer continuous support, guidance and reflective supervision allowing you to grow and develop through your career.
There are opportunities across the city including in the locality teams and CLA service. Periodically there will be opportunities in the more specialist teams; Front Door, Restorative Early Support and the Child Health and Disability service. If you are successful at interview, a post will be offered to you based on your preference, experience and the needs of the service.
As Child Friendly Leeds our vision is for Leeds to be the best city in the UK and the best city for children and young people to grow up in. Through our vision and obsessions we invest in children and young people to help build an increasingly prosperous and successful city. We aim to improve outcomes for all our children whilst recognising the need for outcomes to improve faster for children and young people from vulnerable and deprived backgrounds.
Children’s social work in Leeds is underpinned by a culture of restorative practice and the use of family decision making including Family Group Conferencing is critical to our work.
Our approach was recognised by Ofsted in 2018 when we were judged as outstanding:
“Children and families in Leeds are receiving a consistently good service which ensures that their needs are met at the right time by the right service. Well established multi-agency partnerships aim to meet the needs of children and families at the lowest level of intervention. A clear focus on providing support at the earliest opportunity is helping families to make changes before concerns increase. Leaders have established a well-understood practice model that promotes child-centred work and productive working relationships between workers and families, as well as giving a clear overview of the outcomes desired.”
If you have any queries, then please contact the Recruitment Team on 0113 3785165 who will be able to direct you to a relevant manager for a conversation.
We offer a competitive package including a CARE pension scheme and up to 31 days holiday entitlement.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check against the Children’s barred list will be carried out on preferred candidates.
We promote diversity and want a workforce that reflects the population of Leeds. Leeds City Council is a Stonewall Top 100 employer 2020, a Mindful employer and a Disability Confident Leader.
All new Leeds City Council appointments are made subject to the satisfactory completion of a six month probationary period.
