What is the job role?

As a Children and Family Worker within the Fostering Service, you will work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. You will be a key person within fostering family’s network where you will offer essential support services, advice, training and strategies to manage the needs of children in care.

You will work in partnership and empower children and young people with complex needs, and their families to sustain positive behaviour changes. You will act as a Key Worker with case management responsibilities to co-ordinate and plan integrated and intensive family support.

You will provide appropriate assessments and support to children and young people with complex needs and experience of trauma, their families or carers.

You will deliver individual and group work programmes to children, young people and their families in a range of settings.

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

You will be a worker who is passionate, child centred, enthusiastic, quick thinking and confident in communicating with children, families, professionals, and individuals from other agencies in order to gather relevant information and plan strategies of support for a fostering household.

You will need to be able to manage your own diary and caseload as well as effectively communicate and work with the team around a child in order to improve outcomes for children and families.

You will have some knowledge of therapeutic parenting and responses to trauma.
