Perhaps you think it’s time to consider something else, a different job, a different direction in social work? Your social work experience will grow as a Family Assessment Social Worker

Do you want to

- Spend more time working directly with families and seeing the difference you make?

- Work as part of a supportive team that focuses on up to three families?

Working at St Michael’s residential assessment centres is a unique experience and something that will help your social work skills grow. We have developed many skilled social workers who tell us working at St Michael's made them better social workers.
Build trust with parents and bring about change by working as a Family Assessment Support Worker

The key to our work is building trusting relationships with families to help them get the most out of their time with us. As well as assessing them, we are helping them learn to care for their child. They have often been surrounded by trauma, and the work we do with them can help shift their ideas about parenting and themselves.

We are an organisation that is committed to getting the best outcomes for children and their families, through the way we work and through the relationships we develop. We are seeking qualified Social Workers to come and join us.
Creative, challenging, rewarding and at times frustrating

It’s not your typical 9-5 job. As a Family Assessment Support Worker you will be part of a team of like-minded, supportive, committed individuals who want what is best for the child and parent. Over time you will explore complex issues, including mental health, learning difficulties, substance misuse and domestic abuse.

In the past, staff members have developed their systems and tools for working with parents. One created a keyring to support parents with learning difficulties. Another staff member put together a wellness pack for parents struggling with trauma to help them stay present.
Direct work with families

You will be part of a dedicated team, where you will have the opportunity to work closely with children and their parents. You will have the chance to work in a team and an organisation that is supportive and challenges you to develop yourself and your practice. We are an organisation with a strong ethos of training and development, recognising that we need to invest in our staff to deliver an excellent service.
