This role is offered at Band 2, and you need to be available to complete 12 weeks Induction / Training at full time hours. Applicants must be able to work a variety of shift patterns, as fixed shifts (for example, nights only) are not currently available.Once you have successfully completed the National Care Certificate Training, you will be made a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker. Please note that if you already hold an NHS-recognised Care Certificate and wish to be appointed directly to a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker role, you should apply via our Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker advert. This advert is for the Band 2 entry-level pathway only.

Student visa holders: We can only offer a full-time permanent contract if you have successfully completed your course and have either applied for, or obtained, a Graduate Visa before your anticipated start date.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Support Worker you will assist the Registered Nurses in the delivery of care to our patients , you will work as part of a team ensuring our patients are cared for in a Kind, Safe and Excellent way, ensuring they are treated with dignity at all times.

About the Role:

The role is varied, equally challenging and rewarding. You will have the opportunity to really make a difference to the experience of patients. Full time and part time posts will be considered, and shifts include long days, nights, weekends, and public holidays. Our HCSW's will need the flexibility to cover varied shift patterns.

As part of this role you will be required to:

-Support to serve meals to patients
-Provide personal care to patients
-Take observations such as blood pressure measurements, pulse, urinalysis and temperature.
-Support patients with moving in their clinical area
-All other clinical duties as required

In line with Home Office guidance, please note that CUH is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. The position does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship and includes a mandatory 12-week training period. As a result, we cannot accept applications from individuals who do not have the right to work in the UK or who have less than 6months remaining on their visa from the proposed start date.

CUH provides a comprehensive four-week Clinical Support Staff Induction Programme, together with support to achieve the National Care Certificate. This programme is designed to help you settle into the organisation and become a valued member of the clinical team. Please note that attendance on all four weeks of the induction programme is mandatory.

We are currently recruiting across a range of adult wards. Successful candidates will be allocated to a ward based on service needs and available vacancies across the Trust.

If successful, you will be placed in a central recruitment pool for up to six months while a suitable ward or clinic placement is identified. If an allocation cannot be secured within this period, your application may be withdrawn.

Qualifications

Essential
-Willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks of starting.
-Holds Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English or GCSE equivalent or undertake and achieve a pass following completion of level 1 functional skills assessment

-Level 2 award in health care

Experience

Essential
-Experience working in a healthcare, social care organisation/setting or service industry requiring people contact.
