Children’s Social Care – Stoke on Trent City Council

Be the heart of a fostering community.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking an experienced foster carer to take on the rewarding role of Mockingbird Hub Carer as part of our innovative Mockingbird Family Model.

The hub carer sits at the centre of a group of 6–10 local foster families (a “constellation”), providing practical, emotional and crisis support to help placements thrive and children experience stability, belonging and connection.

About the role

As a Mockingbird Hub Carer, you will:

-Provide planned and emergency support, including sleepovers and respite
-Offer peer support and guidance to foster carers
-Coordinate social activities and constellation meetings
-Work closely with a Mockingbird Liaison Worker
-Help prevent placement breakdowns and strengthen relationships

This is a full time fostering role, not a council employment post.

About you

You will be:

-An experienced, approved foster carer
-Confident, resilient and flexible
-Skilled at building relationships, mediating and advocating
-Able to offer a welcoming home environment (two spare beds preferred)

Single carers or couples with strong support networks are welcome to apply.

What we offer
-£500 per week Mockingbird hub fee
-Mileage covered (up to 200 miles per week)
-Specialist training and ongoing support
-Paid breaks away from the hub
-The chance to be part of a nationally recognised fostering model
