In partnership with Flying Start we provide high quality childcare provision for children aged 2 to 3 years, within three Flying Start areas in Bridgend - North Cornelly, Caerau and Bettws. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced person to join us.

The successful candidate will lead the team in the playroom to provide a safe, stimulating play environment, support and facilitate children's development and where necessary, contribute to the safeguarding of children. We pride ourselves on being child led and are committed to ensuring that all the children we work with have a flying start in life.

You'll predominantly be based within one childcare setting, however there is a need for the flexibility to work across all our Bridgend settings as required by the needs of the service.


As a Senior Childcare Practitioner you'll be:

Supporting the Childcare Team Leader in the day-to-day running of the playroom, in line with regulatory and legislative requirements
Leading and encouraging the team to create a warm, welcoming and caring atmosphere that supports the development of children's self-esteem, sense of identity and belonging.
Working closely with parents to develop an inclusive and open relationship that engages them in their children's learning and development.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess children's development needs and implement appropriate support
Ensuring that the service is complying with Safeguarding policies and procedures


What You'll Bring:

Our job description for the Senior Childcare Practitioner outlines the requirements of the role but the ‘must-haves' are:

CCLD Level 5 qualification, a recognised equivalent, or CCLD Level 3 qualification, a recognised equivalent, and the willingness to achieve CCLD Level 5 qualification.
Leadership experience including supervision, delegation, performance management and staff development
Knowledge and understanding of CIW requirements and current relevant legislation
Access to a car. This role requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.
IT competency to an intermediate level to enable report writing and analysis
Experience within an early years setting is essential
