Opportunity for Social Work or Social Care Academics to Teach on D55 - temporary position(s) until end April 2026 (up to 4 sessions a week including a Thursday)
Are you an experienced academic in Social Work or Social Care with a passion for teaching at the doctoral level? Would you like to increase your sessions for one term?
We are looking for qualified and dedicated individuals to join our team on theProfessional Doctorate in Advanced Practice and Research in Social Work and Social Care (D55), based at the Tavistock.
Main duties of the job
Key Details:
oUp to 4 teaching sessions per week
oFace-to-face teaching at the Tavistock on alternate Thursdays
oOpportunity to shape the learning and development of doctoral students at various stages of their academic journey
What We're Looking For:
oExperience in practitioner research within social work or social care
oExpertise in teaching and learning at the doctoral level
oStrong knowledge and skills in social work and social care practice
oIdeally research active or with extensive academic experience
The role will involve facilitating group seminars, mentoring doctoral students, and contributing to the academic growth of candidates across the course. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the development of future leaders in the field.

Essential
oPhd or professional Doctorate or equivalent oSubstantial experience of teaching students in higher education oCommitment to and track record in anti- discriminatory, anti-racist practice and teaching oKnowledge and understanding of psychosocial/ systemic approaches to health and social care and organisations oExcellent communication skills both written and verbal and ability to convey complex ideas in teaching and learning environments
Desirable
oExperience of doctoral supervision preferably with one or more completions. oTrack record of writing for publication and engaging in scholarly activity. oExperience of quality assurance, academic governance and the student experience oUK recognised qualification in Social Work oExperience of doctoral examining
