We are looking for a Senior Social Work Practitioner to deliver an effective social work service to young people and families, which is informed by the highest practice standards as identified by current research, relevant legislation and departmental policy. To make a contribution to the development of practice standards within the Team.

TO LIAISE WITH:
Colleagues and agencies as required by the needs of young people and their families;
This will include colleagues within Social Services, Statutory Agencies, Voluntary
Organisations and the legal profession.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
1. In the absence of the Team Leader to be responsible for the management of the
Team.
2. To act as a resource for the Team and contribute to the overall performance of the
Team both in a general and specific capacity and share agreed supervisory
responsibilities with the Team Leader.

REPORTS TO Senior Social Worker/Team Manager
ACCOUNTABLE TO Director of Children & Young People’s Services

3. To maintain a case load which will include more complex cases and a high level of
court work.
4. To Participate in Case Conferences and Reviews and meetings as requested.
5. To Chair Team / Case Planning meetings as appropriate.
6. To discharge statutory responsibilities under current legislation as appropriate.
7. To maintain accurate and appropriate records of work undertaken.
8. To develop and promote effective working relationships and links with other
agencies and resources.
9. To report to the Team Leader for supervision of work undertaken as appropriate.
10. To participate in an appraisal interview to identify his/her own training needs on an
annual basis.
11. To provide information for use in the planning and monitoring of services.
12. To undertake Out of Hours Rota as appropriate and when required.
Facilitation, and practice development
13. To develop a high level of skill/knowledge and expertise in the care of children and
young people which will contribute to the development of the services as a whole.
14. To undertake aspects of student/trainee/staff supervision and further training as
appropriate.
15. To contribute to the raising of standards in social work practice.
16. To attend courses/training/ to further his/her professional development.
Governance and reporting responsibility
1. Liaise with relevant statutory, voluntary and independent sector organisations.
2. Maintain clear records of work undertaken including assessment and review
reports.
3. Participate in professional supervision process with Team Leader.
4. Provide data for use in service development and monitoring performance and
outcomes.

Continuous Professional Development
1. Maintain and develop knowledge and practice skills through supervision and
training, linked to continuing registration requirements
