Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12-month fixed term Senior Social Work post to cover the Manchester AMHP Hub for 18.5 hours per week. The Manchester AMHP service is a busy service and receives referrals for individuals within the City of Manchester. The post holder will undertake the role of the senior Social Worker on duty at the hub to ensure the effective running of the service. The main duties of the post will involve the triaging of all referrals into the service and making decisions in line with s.13(1) of the MHA. They will prioritise referrals on a daily basis and make decisions regarding the allocation of assessments to the AMHP's on duty. The Senior Social Worker will also provide support and guidance to the AMHP's who are on duty. The postholder will receive clinical and managerial supervision from a Social Care Lead. There is also the opportunity for this post to be a secondment and would welcome applications on this basis, but this would require the prior agreement of the line manager to release an AMHP for a 12 month period.We are looking for the successful applicant to be able to start at the end of September or as close to this as possible. Main duties of the job
Triaging of referrals in to the AMHP service and making evidenced based decisions in line with s.13(1) of the MHA , and communicating outcomes to referrers.
Processing referrals in line with agreed processes and recording decisions on electronic care records and handover documents.
Prioritising referrals on a daily basis and allocating work to AMHP's on duty, and re-prioritising throughout the day in line with new priorities.
Provision of support and guidance to AMHP's on duty at the Hub.
Communicating/ liaising/maintaining positive working relationships with other services both within GMMH, and external agencies regarding referrals made and assessments which are required.
Provision of clinical/managerial supervision to full time AMHP's in the team, as directed by AMHP hub Manager.

Essential

Holds an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Qualification
Qualified Social Worker/other professional qualification (Nursing/OT/Psychologist)

Desirable

Best Interests Assessor Qualification

Experience
Essential

Experience of working as an AMHP

Desirable

Experience of supervising or managing staff
