This is a unique opportunity for an empathic person to join our team and contribute to the further development of the service in a fixed term maternity cover role. You will have the opportunity to develop and add to your existing skills and knowledge base in the Social Care field whilst providing leadership oversight to a small team who provide welfare support to all serving RAF personnel, their immediate family, and dependents.

As SWTL (Maternity Cover), you will monitor and lead the operational delivery of the SSAFA Personal Support & Social Work Service within a designated geographical area for up to 12 months. You will be responsible and accountable for caseload management within the team and ensure effective cover for all stations within the area of responsibility. In your SWTL role, you will ensure that the PS&SWS is actively promoted and professionally represented in a variety of forums and in work with RAF Community Support. This is an exciting and sometimes unpredictable role where no two days are the same!

About the team

The Personal Support & Social Work Service comprises of 60 qualified and un-qualified social workers and administration support. We have a presence at RAF stations across the UK.

This role is located at RAF Benson, part of the friendly and supportive South Region. We are a hard-working team, from diverse professional backgrounds, dispersed across the South of England. Although we all have our own area of responsibility, we support each other in delivering the best possible service to the military community.
About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have:

A recognised Social Work qualification.

Evidence of further post qualification social work training.

Experience of managing a multi-disciplined team and resources.

Demonstrable experience of working in the field of Health and Social authority, children, and families/adults’ services.

Excellent IT skills including experience of using a case management system.

Experience of implementing and adhering to quality assurance processes in support of service delivery.

You must be prepared to travel in the course of your work and a full driving licence and use of car are essential.
