We at CAMHS Phoenix are looking for a very enthusiastic, compassionate and proactive individual for the role of Social Worker, to join a very well-established multidisciplinary team.

Our service, based in CAMHS Phoenix on the Wokingham Community Hospital site, is a Tier 4, alternative to admission Day Hospital and Home treatment service, that provides evidence based psychiatric, nursing, and therapeutic interventions for young people between the age 12 - 18 years, presenting with severe and complex mental health difficulties assessed as requiring Tier 4 level care, including where these disorders are co-morbid with neurodevelopmental diagnoses.

All young people who are accepted to the service will follow a structured programme, in line with relevantNICE guidelines (for example anorexia nervosa, depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation).Interventions are delivered by a multi-disciplinary clinical team comprising of: Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Dietitian, Family Therapist, Teaching staff, Support staff including Assistant Psychologists, Clinical Support Staff, Activity Co-ordinator, Administrators and Managerial Support.

This will be a part time role - 22.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

To work with children, young people and their families who receive a service from the CAMHS Hospital at Home Team and who have been assessed as being children and families in complex need.
To provide an expert social care perspective to CAMHS service development, as required.
To provide experience and expertise to ensure the effective management of children at risk of abuse and neglect.
To facilitate timely care and discharge planning from the service for children with complex multi-agency support needs. This involves a high degree of liaison and discussions with colleagues from multiple social care teams and other departments alongside the local authority (Benefits dept for example).
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with specific responsibility for child protection, welfare issues and safeguarding, offering direct intervention to children young people and families. This will include provision of advice, consultation and guidance to colleagues working with complex cases to define and promote social perspectives of need, and to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people.
To work closely with the CAMHS Phoenix young people' local social care teams for the purposes of information-sharing, consultation, and access to mental health services, carrying out joint assessments and intervention where appropriate to the needs of the child/young person.

Hold a full UK Driving Licence and have use of a car for work purposes
Has experience of working within a mental health/multi-disciplinary setting and Has experience of child protection work

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

CQSW/CSS/DipSW or equivalent Social Work qualification
Registered with Social Work England
Has one year's post-qualifying experience
Has experience of working within a mental health/multi-disciplinary setting
Has experience of child protection work
Understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people and how these needs can be most effectively met
Knowledge of Mental Health policy and legislation and how this impacts on young people within the CAMHS service

Previous Experience

Essential

High level communication skills
Able to communicate sensitive and potentially challenging information effectively and appropriately to children within the service and families/carers where there may be barriers to acceptance and a highly emotive context
Ability to assess children and family's needs and develop effective care plans
Ability to provide consultation and training to other professionals
Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Can produce appropriate written work (letters, forms, reports etc) following statutory procedures, Trust policy and national practice guidance.
Aptitude or willingness to train in order to produce word processing documents and operate computer information systems.
Ability to work to timescales and comfortably cope in pressurised situations, applying practical problem solving skills in everyday and complex situations.
Competent IT skills and the ability to navigate around various systems and software packages (such as outlook, databases e.g. RiO, MS office and the internet). Good keyboard skills.
Exceptional interpersonal, influencing, communication, observation, and reporting skills.
Ability to work with partners to improve communication and care delivery across all agencies for these Children and Young People
