Court-Based Social Work: An impactful career connecting justice and advocacy

About this event

This event has now expired

Join the Stoke-On-Trent Children’s Social Work team to discuss your future career as a Court based social worker. Court-based social work is a dynamic, meaningful profession that places skilled social workers at the very heart of the justice system. You act as vital bridges between legal institutions and vulnerable individuals—transforming lives by advocating for fairness, dignity, and rehabilitation over punishment.

What makes court-based social work so compelling?

Rather than sitting behind a desk all day, court-based social workers are actively involved in real-world change. They work closely with judges, lawyers, probation officers and clients to ensure that justice is not just legal—but ethical and equitable. Their insight helps courts make informed decisions about sentencing, treatment plans, custody arrangements, and rehabilitation. Your assessments and testimony can directly influence case outcomes, offering alternatives to incarceration and promoting restorative justice.

Find out how you will grow as a professional - no two days are alike. You might be interviewing a client, preparing a pre-sentencing report, testifying in court, or collaborating with community professionals to secure mental health care or housing. It’s fast-paced, emotionally rich, and constantly evolving.

Court-based social work offers a deep sense of purpose. You're not only helping individuals, you're also contributing to a more just, compassionate system—one that sees people, not just cases.

So if you want to discuss how to apply for this role or have questions that are making you consider moving into this area of social work please join the team at 4pm on 3 September to find out how this will be your best career move yet.
