Speakers bios:

Carolyn Smith is an Advanced Social Work Practitioner, and Lead for ASYEs, PEs and Students within Wakefield Children & Young People’s Service (CYPS). She has worked within the field of Child Protection for 13 years, and has always held a passion for supporting students and Newly Qualified Social Workers. Carolyn is the coordinator for all things student, PE and ASYE in Wakefield CYPS, and her passion for the role saw her awarded Practice Educator of the Year at the 2022 Social Work Awards.

Katie Griffin is a Social Worker within one of Wakefield CYPS Locality Child Protection Teams. A former student of Wakefield CYPS, Katie went on to successfully complete her ASYE and is currently accessing the unique ‘Second Supported Year in Employment (SSYE)’ that Wakefield CYPS offer. Katie is an enthusiastic and passionate social worker, with particular interest in completing complex holistic assessments and building relationships with children, young people and their families; particularly those that are hard to reach.
