About this event

This event has now expired

Education and training systems traditionally operate by deciding for learners what they should learn (the curriculum), how they should learn it (the teaching philosophy) and when they should learn it (the timetable). However, it is increasingly being recognised that self-directed learning, where learners make these decisions for themselves, can be far more effective. This webinar explains what is involved in self-directed learning (or ‘heutagogy’), clears up some common misunderstandings about it and explains why it is worth giving serious consideration to adopting it, individually and collectively.

Neil Thompson is a longstanding advocate of self-directed learning, and his online Academy has played an important part in promoting this type of learning approach.

The remaining monthly webinars in the 'Reflect, Learn, Thrive: Monthly pathways to professional excellence' series will cover the following topics:

Using Theory in Practice
Values-based Practice
What Does it Mean to Be a Professional?
Developing Critically Reflective Practice
Developing Anti-discriminatory Practice
Developing an Effective Team
Boosting Your Career
Managing Conflict

Please note: By signing up to any of the 'Reflect, Learn, Thrive: Monthly pathways to professional excellence' series webinars, you acknowledge and consent to being automatically enrolled with The Neil Thompson Academy.
