Outstanding social workers recognised in Queen’s Birthday Honours

A number of social work practitioners and leaders have received honours in this year’s list, some for particularly outstanding work during the pandemic.

Outstanding social workers recognised in Queen’s Birthday Honours

Rashida Baig, Head of Service at London Borough of Croydon, received an MBE for services to Child and Family Social Work and Race Equality.

Baig, who joined Croydon in 2019 after more than 6 years at West Berkshire Council, has overseen improvement from its ‘Inadequate’ Ofsted rating to ‘Good’ in March this year.

Manvir Hothi, a Social Worker at Hammersmith and Fulham Council, received an MBE for services to Social Care - particularly during Covid-19.

Louise Peart, a Social Worker in the Adult Services Intake and Assessment Team at Vale of Glamorgan Council, received a gong for services to vulnerable people during Covid-19.

Awards were not limited to practitioners, with Gillian Louise Schofield, Professor of Child and Family Social Work at the University of East Anglia, also receiving an award for services to Children and Families.
